Snoop’s Spat Sparked Trump’s Fury – Put Death Row founder’s Pardon At Risk in Last Days As POTUS | WATCH

*A rapper rarely takes residency in a president’s mind, but Snoop Dogg managed to do just that in the final days of Donald Trump’s presidency. Highlighting Rolling Stone’s coverage of the situation, Complex detailed Trump’s preoccupation with Snoop, which goes back to a beef between the pair that spawned in 2017.

During this time, Trump was in the early days of his initial stint as commander-in-chief when Snoop blasted him in a music video for his single “M.A.C.A. (Make America Crip Again).” In the clip, the “Deep Cover” lyricist is seen aiming a toy gun at a clown resembling Trump.

Upon laying eyes on the video, Trump was reportedly infuriated and took his beef to social media.

“Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!” #45 posted at the time on Twitter.

The Trump/Snoop conflict continued the following year with the Long Beach representative showing no shame in insulting Trump.

Of particular note is a 2018 interview in which Snoop lashed out at Trump, Kanye West (who wore a red MAGA hat when he met with Trump in the Oval Office) and his supporters, labeling them racist.

“I don’t give a f***, I tell ’em straight up, motherfucker: If you like that n***a, you motherf****n’ racist,” Snoop told the Daily Beast about Trump and his supporters. “F*** you and f*** him.”

Fast forward two to three years and Snoop has cooled his stance on Trump as he aligned with the Trump administration in late 2020 and early 2021 to help convince the former “Apprentice” fixture to pardon Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris.

At that time, Harris was serving a life sentence in prison for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and cocaine trafficking in the 1990s.

Snoop’s efforts ultimately fell on deaf ears with Trump, who, as a former administration official told Rolling Stone, “moaned about Snoop Dogg in the closing days of his term,” telling staffers, “Well, f*** him,” when asked about the rap star about Harris’ clemency campaign.

Complex notes Trump’s attitude on Jan. 18, 2021, after the clemency paperwork for Harris had already been drafted. Hearing about Snoop’s comments during his Daily Beast interview, the business mogul turned politician made it his mission to get back at Snoop by removing Harris’ name from a list of 150 people seeking pardons.

Despite the removal, luck was on Harris’ side via Weldon Angelos, an activist who was filming a documentary focusing on the Death Row Records co-founder’s clemency campaign. In addition to documenting the movement to free Harris, Angelos’ film included footage of Snoop “saying complimentary things” about Trump.

“I was aware that the [Daily Beast] article caused a problem for Mr. Harris’ clemency petition, and I was asked by someone close to the White House to send a clip of a previously recorded message from Snoop where he commended Trump’s efforts on criminal justice reform,” Angelos told Rolling Stone. “The campaign to free Harry-O was recorded for documentary purposes.”

After Trump saw Snoop in the documentary, he shared his appreciation for the rhyme slinger’s praise and ordered Harris’ name to be added back to the pardon list. A day later, on the last day of Trump’s presidency, Harris was a free man, Complex noted. Others making the list included Lil Wayne, Steve Bannon, Kodak Black and Elliott Broidy.

News of Snoop’s previous beef with Trump conflicts comments “The Underdoggs” star made in January 2024, when he expressed, “I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”

Despite the comment, the Atlanta Black Star mentioned no official endorsement of Trump for president in 2024 has been made by Snoop.
