While promoting the show recently on SiriusXM’s Jim & Sam Show, Esposito compared Parish’s struggles on the series with his own. The actor recounted a moment in 2008 when he felt overwhelmed by personal challenges, prompting him to contemplate the possibility of his children benefiting from life insurance in the event of his demise. He had discussions with his then-wife Joy McManigal regarding potential insurance scenarios.
“She had no idea why I was asking her this stuff,” Esposito said. “I started scheming. If I got somebody to knock me off, death by misadventure, [my kids] would get the insurance. I had four kids. I wanted them to have a life. It was a hard moment in time.”
The “Breaking Bad star said he considered “self-annihilation” so his “kids could survive.”
“That’s how low I was,” he admitted.
