*Mary J. Blige teased that she’s no longer single in a new interview with Big Tigger for Audacy Check-In.
“I’m not single. I’m happily doing what I’m doing,” the 53-year-old said on Audacy Check In.
As Vibe reports, the R&B songstress didn’t spill any additional tea about her romantic life, but she appears to be boo’d up six years after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Kendu Isaacs.
Blige told Elle in a 2022 interview that she didn’t feel beautiful until she split with Isaacs after 13 years of marriage.
“I didn’t feel beautiful-like for real for real, not just ‘Hey, I’m pretty’ but actually believing it-until about 2016,” the superstar shared at the time. “If you’ve been beat down mentally by someone, you’re never pretty enough. You’re never smart enough. Nothing’s ever good enough.”
Mary confessed that while filming “Mudbound” during her marriage, “I had to pay myself the highest compliments, even if I didn’t believe it, just so I could build myself up,” she told Elle.
Meanwhile, Blige penned her new single, “Still Believe In Love,” after her divorce, which includes the lyrics: “Well, it’s a whole new day, a whole new wave / Ain’t worried ’bout nothing / Everything’s looking up, yeah / Well, I was going through a phase, stuck in old ways / Always thinkin’ somethin’ / Like I ain’t never good enough, yeah.”
Speaking about the song to Tigger on his podcast, Blige said, “I needed something different, something positive other than what was going on in my life. I had to believe in myself […] I say ‘no matter what happens, I’m never gonna give up on me.’ And the timing, the climate for the song was just perfect for right now.”
Blige described her post-divorce life as simply “working and just watching God shower me because I’m doing the hard thing—which is tryna do the right thing, which is hard to do.”
