*BET+ is teaming with rapper Ludacris to develop a scripted series inspired by his upbringing and journey in Atlanta as DJ Chris Lova Lova.
According to the press release, the half-hour dramedy will be written by Noah Gardenswartz and the hip-hop star serves as an EP on the project.
Per THR, BET+ said the series is inspired by Ludacris’ “experience coming up in the competitive music scene in Atlanta as DJ Chris Lova Lova, the series follows the misadventures of a sharply drawn ensemble who are willing to do anything and everything to bolster ratings at their hip hop radio station.”
Malcolm D. Lee and Larry Wilmore are executive producers on the series along with Ludacris, who also serves as the music supervisor.
The untitled project hails from Universal Television and Disturbing Tha Peace, Luda’s label that he launched with his manager Chaka Zulu.
Last year, the “Fast and Furious” star received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“I’m just so thankful,” Luda said during the official ceremony, As REVOLT reported. “Getting a star is a statement, but … the even bigger statement to me is that we are all interconnected. And I am a culmination of the people who showed up for me today believing in me and pushing me to inspire me. So y’all be clapping for me all day; I’m gonna need y’all to give yourselves a round of applause because I’m nothing without you.”
Meanwhile, Billboard reports that Ludacris is one of the judges on the reboot of Netflix’s hip-hop competition show, Rhythm + Flow. Season 2 of the series is slated to debut later this year after a five-year hiatus.
