*Super Bowl LIV is set to take place in New Orleans with Kendrick Lamar headlining the halftime show, but fans believe hometown hero Lil Wayne deserved the performance spot.
The Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans will go down on February 9, 2025. Master P was among those who believed a local artist should have been the headliner for the show. In a statement shared on social media, he wrote, “Salute to @kendricklamar for performing at the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX… well deserved, he’s one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the biggest songs right now,” Master P wrote on Instagram, All Hip Hop reports.
“As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well. He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native,” he added.
Lil Wayne’s engineer and producer Fabian Marasciullo also took to his Instagram Story on Sunday (September 8) to react to Kendrick’s halftime show performance.
“Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all. Inspired,” he wrote on IG, prompting speculation that he was talking about the NFL picking Kendrick Lamar instead of Lil Wayne. “Will never again be in a position or have the [goat emoji] in a position where we are at the mercy of someone elses decision. We will make the decisions.”
