
*The relationship between Eddie Murphy’s son Eric and Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin is receiving a thumbs up from the “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” star.
Speaking with Gayle King on “CBS Mornings” on July 2, Murphy made his expectations known on how the couple’s offspring may turn out if they marry and bring a new life into the world.
“They’re both beautiful,” said the 63-year-old comedy icon, who confessed that he and Lawrence thought it was “cool” that Eric and Jasmin are an item. “They look amazing together. And it’s funny [because] everybody [asks], ‘What is that baby going to be funny?’ ”
“Just our gene pool is going to make this funny baby,” Murphy continued. “If they ever get married and have a child, I’m expecting the child to be funny.”
The entertainer’s comments echo similar remarks Lawrence made about a possible grandchild during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in June 2022, People noted. The “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” fixture brought a humorous angle to the situation while commenting on Eric and Jasmin conceiving a “comedy super-baby” at some point.

The oldest of Murphy’s 10 children, 34-year-old Eric and the 28-year-old apple of his eye, the oldest of Lawrence’s three kids have been an item for quite some time.
In June 2021, the pair first went public with their relationship when Eric shared a selfie of he and Jasmin on Instagram, captioning it, “Head over heels in LOVE with YOU.”
In January 2022, Jasmin shared the origin of their romantic alliance, telling InTouch Weekly that she and Eric became good friends after she met him through her uncle.
“It wasn’t even [through] our dads,” Jasmin said at the time. “And they’ve done two movies together, they’re friends.”
Over time, the “Relatively Famous: Ranch Rules” star said they “became more” and shared that their families have been supportive of their relationship.

As for his and his former “Boomerang” co-star’s presence in the couple’s relationship, Lawrence revealed he and Murphy “stay out of their business… and respect their thing” together.
The “Martin” alum later joked that he would “try to get Eddie to pay” for the wedding.
Not one to let Lawrence slide on his comments, Murphy responded in a separate chat with Canadian outlet Etalk in February 2023, saying, “That’s not how it goes.”
“My daughter just got married, and I had to pay — really had to pay,” he said. “You have to do the same, Martin.”
