*Brandon T. Jackson opened up to The Baller Alert Show about stepping back from the spotlight and his spiritual journey.
Jackson explained to hosts Ferrari Simmons and BT that he hasn’t quit Hollywood altogether, he’s been busy working on a new comedy tour and his latest project, “The Family Business: New Orleans,” coming this December.
“People always ask where I’ve been,” Jackson said. “I took time to build and uplift the Black community—and really, all communities. It wasn’t just a break for myself; I wanted to make a difference and work on things that were more fulfilling than just fame.”
He also referenced rumors about him joining the Illuminati.
“I’m not in the Illuminati!” Jackson said. “The industry is a challenge for everyone, and I had to find my way to be true to myself in it.”
Additionally, he spoke about fatherhood and creating a lasting legacy, explaining, “It’s about knowing what kind of legacy I want to leave for my kids. Everything I’m doing now, all the writing and film projects, it’s all so I can leave a positive impact.”
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that Jackson will star in Carl Weber’s “The Family Business: New Orleans” series and serve as an associate producer. The cast lineup includes Lela Rochon, Ben Stephens, Pooch Hall, Quincy Brown, David Banner, Yvette Nicole Brown, Orlando Jones, Nicole Galicia, Erica Hubbard, Sarah Carter, Stan Shaw, Bern Nadette Stanis, Nayirah Teshali, Sacaiah Shaw, Jenson Atwood, AzMarie Livingston, Deric Augustine. Kayla Nicole, and Nicholas Turturro, according to the press release.
Some of the cast, including Stephens, Stanis, Stan Shaw, Teshali, and Sacaiha Shaw, made guest appearances in the original series’ fourth season, which concluded in October 2022.
“The Family Business” series is based on Weber’s New York Times best-selling crime drama series and follows the Duncans, an upstanding tight-knit family that, by day, owns and operates an exotic car dealership in New York. By night, their business activities are more illicit.
“This series really lets me play the type of characters I’ve grown into. It’s got action, drama, and a grown-man energy that I think will really resonate,” Jackson told Baller Alert. Watch his full interview via the YouTube clip above.
