*Whoopi Goldberg, The View host, once appeared on the “Tamron Hall” show where she was quoted saying, “I don’t want to live with anybody.” The 67-year-old longtime moderator on The View is a three-time divorcee and refuted the famous saying she keeps receiving from people, “Well, you’ll find somebody.”

Talking to Hall, 52, the EGOT winner said she has an overly protective roommate – a 20-year-old attitudinal cat, Oliver.

She added that Oliver leaves treats for anyone in the bed except her (Goldberg). Asked whether Oliver is the one hindering her from having a partner, Goldberg insisted that being single is her personal choice.

Goldberg explained that, on the contrary, she hinders having a relationship in her life. She said she knew what Oliver would do if she brought somebody home.

Besides, being in a relationship, according to her, means making a commitment with the other party – asking for their opinion, listening and working out with them, and sharing money – which are things she isn’t willing to do as family and friends are her most important priorities.

Goldberg was first married to Alvin Martin, which led to a daughter, Alexandrea, 46, before divorcing in 1979. She remarried in 1986 to David Claessen, a cinematographer, but the two divorced after a couple of years. Her last marriage with actor Lyle Trachtenberg was in October 1994 and lasted a year.

The View host revealed during her 2016 interview with The New York Times that she was neither looking for a relationship nor a roommate, as she was happier by herself. She added that she could spend as much time as she wanted with someone but wasn’t looking for a live-in or lifetime partner – and that has always been her mentality.

Explaining her decision further, Goldberg said, “I’m the round peg, and marriage is the square hole. You can’t have a square hole, can you?”
