Five Nights at Freddy’s

*Universal has dropped the hotly anticipated teaser trailer for “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” and we are here for this!

The supernatural horror from Blumhouse is adapted from the popular video game series of the same name. It stars Josh Hutcherson (Hunger Games) as a security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through, per the official synopsis.

The film also features Elizabeth Lail (You, Mack & Rita), Piper Rubio (Holly & Ivy, Unstable), Kat Conner Sterling (We Have a Ghost, 9-1-1), with Mary Stuart Masterson (Blindspot, Fried Green Tomatoes) and Matthew Lillard (Good Girls, Scream).

“If you are watching this video it means that you have been selected as Freddy’s newest security guard,” the video narrator says in the teaser (see above).

“We’re going to have so much fun together,” adds the narrator as Freddy the bear appears with his glowing red eyes.

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” is directed by Emma Tammi from a script she co-wrote with Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. Cawthon created the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” video game series.

In 2021, producer Jason Blum spoke to Collider about the challenges of developing the script.

“The film is really tough to crack. We’ve written multiple scripts, and we’ve got where we’re threading a needle, which is doing justice to Five Nights at Freddy’s and making Scott [Cawthon] happy,” he said, We Got This Covered reports.

“The only way that we would go about it is giving Scott … I don’t want to do something that Scott doesn’t like. Let me say that a different way. I don’t have the right to do anything Scott doesn’t like. Basically, Scott has kind of like the equivalent of final cut,” he shared. “And it’s taken longer than I hoped to get the right story. But we’re a long ways from giving up. And I’m confident, eventually, I will figure it out.“

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” hits theaters and streaming on Peacock October 27.
