*Rapper Jeezy claims Jeannie Mai is “interfering” with his parental rights.
The estranged couple’s informal agreement regarding parenting their daughter Monaco isn’t working, so Jeezy wants the court to intervene, The Blast reports.
The hip-hop star claims the former host of “The Real” acts like a “gatekeeper” whenever he wants to spend time with their child, according to Jeezy’s legal filing, per The Blast.
Jeezy filed for divorce in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sept. 14, after two-and-a-half years of marriage. According to People, the filing says the marriage is “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation.”
Mai and Jeezy are “currently living in a bona fide state of separation,” per the legal documents.
Jeezy and Jeannie reportedly had a prenuptial agreement, and he wants to share joint legal custody of their daughter. The pair married in March 2021 and welcomed Monaco the following year.
One insider told ET that Jeezy and Jeannie’s opinions differed regarding “certain family values and expectations.”
In his legal filing, Jeezy notes. “[Mai] has acted as a gatekeeper when it comes to [Jeezy] exercising parenting time with [Monaco]”.
This “interference” is “causing confusion and tension” between Jeezy and his ex, per The Blast. “As such, it is necessary at this point to separate, structure and clearly define the parties’ temporary legal and physical custody rights and set a parenting time schedule consistent with the best interests of the Child,” the complaint states.
Jeezy makes clear in the filing that he “does not believe that (she) is acting maliciously or with specific intent to harm (his) relationship with the child.”
