*JAY-Z’s birthday could become a holiday in New York City.

ABC 7 New York reports that councilmembers introduced legislation this month to declare December 4 (the rapper’s birthday) a holiday, named “Jay-Z Day.”

The bill would celebrate Jigga’s “legendary status as a masterful MC and lyricist and as an innovative entrepreneur.”

“The global phenomenon that is Jay-Z—born Shawn Carter—is widely known as an artist, mogul, husband and father, wealth builder, and supporter of economic development and community causes,” said Councilwoman Farah Louis during the resolution meeting, per Complex

She continued, “Dec. 4 as Jay-Z Day announces to the world how this Brooklyn son can be all things, including loved by his community. In the spirit of celebrating Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary, establishing an annual celebration to recognize a homegrown hero while proclaiming our municipal support is fitting.”

On Jan. 3, the council’s 2024 session will begin, during which the resolution will be discussed.

Meanwhile, JAY-Z recently released his year-end playlist on TIDAL, dubbed the “Couple Songs of ’23,” including tracks from his wife Beyoncé, Nas, Drake, and Nicki Minaj.

The playlist also boasts hits from Icewear Vezzo, J. Cole, Sauce Walka, Killer Mike, Babyface Ray, Mozzy, Young Nudy, and Gunna. Check out the entire playlist right here.

Back in October, JAY-Z weighed in on the “$500,000 in cash or lunch with JAY-Z?” debate during a sit down with Gayle King for an interview on “CBS Mornings.”

“You gotta take the money,” he said.

“Because you got all that in the music for $10.99. That’s a bad deal. I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal,” JAY-Z continued, People reported. “Take the $500,000, go buy some albums and listen to the albums. It’s all there.”

He added: “If you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, for what it is, it’s all there. Everything that I said was going to happen, happened. Everything that I said I wanted to do, I’ve done, and there’s the blueprint,” JAY-Z explained, referencing his 2001 album. “The blueprint — literally — to me and my life and my journey is there already.”
