*A Georgia man is facing murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed a tire shop employee.

The incident occurred Saturday at Tires Plus in DeKalb County, where the suspect, Quadarious McDowell, had taken his car for a brake inspection. Daniel Gordon, an employee of the tire shop, allegedly took McDowell’s car out for a test drive before beginning work on the vehicle and that’s when the suspect killed him, WSB-TV reports.

“Why you know? He didn’t have to do that,” co-worker John Claude Edwards told WSB-TV. “We shouldn’t have to go through this. It’s just a test drive for him to get killed, a young brother.”

According to police, McDowell believed his car was being stolen, so he shot the driver.

“He saw him in uniform,” Edwards said. “He’s got his bag with the work order in it and everything to test drive the vehicle. Why would you think anything different?”

“You can’t even feel safe at work. It’s just sad,” another friend of the victim told WSB-TV. “It’s a sad day. You can’t even call this a wrong place at the wrong time situation because literally, you’re at work.”

Police said McDowell attempted to flee the scene after the shooting but officers tracked him down. According to WSB-TV, he was arrested and charged with murder.
