Brandy Punked by Daughter Sy’Rai Smith’s ‘Area Codes’ Prank (Watch)

*Brandy fans got to experience the singer in full mother mode recently when she became the most high profile victim of the “Area Codes” prank.

Sy’Rai Smith, who just turned 21, got her poor Grammy-winning mama good in an Aug. 22 video post in which she recites the lyrics to Kali’s “Area Codes” in a conversational tone, as if the words about a new “white” boyfriend feeding her “pasta and lobster” were describing her own situation.

Brandy, 44, seemed genuinely confused and alarmed over her daughter’s news, as Sy’Rai struggled to keep from falling out laughing. In reciting the lyrics, she told her mother:

Got a white boy on my roster
He be feeding me pasta and lobster
He just hit me up on Tuesday like, ‘What you doing bae?
Let me take you shoppin’
I told him, ‘Well, I’m a little busy’
He said, ‘Damn, I’m in your city
But anyway, it’s okay, hope you have a good day
I’ma send you ’bout eight fifty’
Then I told him, ‘You treat me so well’
He said, ‘Cashapp or zelle?
Matter of fact, scratch that, I’ma send you a stack
Just cause you fine as hell…’”

Brandy, perplexed but calm, kept asking her child to explain who this white boy was and how they met. After Sy’Rai told her mom, “He just hit me up on Tuesday like, ‘What you doing bae? Let me take you shoppin’,” Brandy replied with concern, “That’s an immediate no.”

“How did he get your number? Like why would you give him your number? You don’t even know him,” Brandy asked her daughter.

Following the “Cashapp or Zelle” line, Brandy warned: “You better not send him no Cashapp or Zelle… Sy’Rai, I think you like this kind of attention.”

Sy’Rai’s “Area Codes” prank received over 60,000 likes in less than 24 hours, according to Madame Noire.
