*Many music fans may not be familiar with the Neo-Soul group Lion Babe or that one of its members is the daughter of actress-singer Vanessa Williams.
The group’s lead singer is Jillian Hervey, 33, daughter of Williams and her ex-husband Ramon Hervey. Lion Babe is comprised of Jillian, the vocalist, and record producer, Lucas Goodman. The two met while Hervey was attending college in New York and the pair have been collaborating on music ever since, according to I Love Old School Music.
“I never walk into a room and say, ‘Hi! I am Vanessa Williams’ daughter,’ ” Hervey previously told Page Six, via ILOSM. “It helps me to become more authentic.”
Lionbabe has reportedly opened up for rapper, Childish Gambino and collaborated with music producer, Pharrell Williams.

Lion Babe released the track “Wonder Woman” in 2015 and, per ILOSM, it peaked at number one on Billboard’s interactive chart, ‘Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists.’ Listen to the song via the YouTube player above.
Earlier this month, the group hit up Instagram to show some love to “ALL of our listeners” on Spotify.
“To everyone who reaches out to share how we have impacted their journey, been a source of comfort and release, inspiration or energy we never take it for granted,” Lion Babe posted.
“To the people who just dance not knowing who we are we love you too! Been building and building over the years and there is still lots more to do. Looking forward to our new era,” the statement continued.
