Many people may wonder why is church important. Attending church is important to the believer because it reinforces the principles of Christ and teaches life applications. People that attend church on a regular basis are more likely to apply those principles when trying situations arise.

When it comes to learning about the Bible, the best place to go to is the church. People ask, why attend church when I can read the Bible at home. There is a difference between reading the Bible and receiving instruction on its meaning.

A pastor or worship leader has received significant training in the interpretation of scripture. They can give deeper meaning to the stories of the Bible. Plus, if you’re struggling with a particular text, you have someone to speak with to get a better understanding.

1 Corinthians 12:27 states Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. In community worship, members of the body of Christ come together in a public display of their commitment.

Going to church is something Christians do to demonstrate their commitment. I there was no community worship opportunities the church as a whole would fade away.

Although the groups deal with life issues outside of the church, they are discussed from a biblical perspective.

Church has long been a place where like-minded Christians meet. Whether you’re looking for a friend or a mate going to church can help you make the connection.

There are a lot of personal relationships that begin in the church. Because church membership is so diverse, it is easy to gravitate to people you have a common interest with.

Many professional relationships start in the church. It is a good outlet for networking. Churches that understand the importance of professional development are purposeful in getting business leaders together.

Although there is a separation of state and church, most politicians identify as Christians. When a church has a politician among its membership, they use it to their advantage to get funding for social service programs and to help members with their own personal causes.

Going to church is important because it gives members an opportunity to participate in community giving. Making an impact on the lives of the less fortunate is something most places of worship participate in.

Being able to make a difference in someone’s life through food drives, financial assistance, and other outreach ministries is important to members. The Bible states in Proverbs 19:17 that whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.

It is a good feeling to know you helped someone who doesn’t have as much as you do.

Attending church is a way to use your gifts and talents. Churches have really grown and in some instances are full-blown productions. There is a place for your gifts and talents.

You may not have become a professional singer but you can use your gift in the choir. Dancers perform Mime routines or liturgical dances. Those that are technologically savvy can find a place in the media ministry.

If for no other reason, we should go to church to give thanks. So many people are blessed to live a life without health issues, never lacking money, or dealing with wayward children. Attending a weekend worship service is a public display of thanksgiving.

When other people see you worshipping it motivates them to do the same. If you are a true believer, you’ll be a living testimony to bring others to church.

Hebrews 10:24-25 gives us instruction on attending church… “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
