*Master P says when the ran into Tyler Perry during Essence Fest last weekend, the moment left him feeling anything but thrilled as the “energy wasn’t there”.

In an interview with TheYBF‘s podcast, the hip hop mogul and entrepreneur admits he expected a more welcoming interaction with Perry during their first encounter.

“I bumped into Tyler Perry…but it was awkward. I thought we was going to embrace each other. I think that people are afraid when they see me, because they know I’m so independent. And I’m doing this, so I don’t know, am I threatening to them or whatever. I’m ready to embrace him, like a black man from New Orleans. Like, I’m happy for you brother…but the energy wasn’t there.”

He went on to shade Perry for building his career off playing a man in drag as the beloved Medea character, a franchise that has reportedly made more than $569 million.

“I wouldn’t put on a dress to be in a movie. My morals are different. I don’t care how much money, I just wouldn’t do it,” says Master P.

It seems the No Limit Records CEO was hoping Perry would acknowledge his efforts as a filmmaker.

“To see me, where I’m rising up now in the film side, I woulda thought he’d be happy, another brother from New Orleans…it wasn’t a bad thing but it wasn’t what I expected.”

Master P’s latest feature, “I Got The Hook-Up 2,” is the sequel to the 1998 cult classic, starring himself, his son Romeo Miller, comedians Anthony Johnson, DC Young Fly, John Witherspoon, Michael Blackson and more.
