*Al Sharpton has shared his super simple diet and workout regimen that has helped maintain his svelte physique for years.

In a Q&A with GQ Thursday, the 64-year-old activist turned MSNBC host revealed that he’s up at 4 a.m. every day to begin exercising and he follows a diet that includes three slices of seven-grain toast a day, Page Six reports.

“I have to stay at a hotel with a fitness room and that also has seven-grain toast,” he told the magazine.

According to the report, his daily dietary menu consists of:

  •      A banana at 4:15 a.m.
  •      Some protein powder shortly after
  •      One salad and a slice of toast between 11 a.m. and noon
  •      Two more slices at around 6 p.m.
  •      Fish once a week (He hasn’t eaten chicken in seven or eight years.)

For his workout sessions, Sharpton said he usually hits his building’s gym, using the elliptical, stationary bicycle, lifting weights and doing pull-ups.

“As you get older, you’ve got to strengthen your bones. That’s why the weightlifting is important, and why the elliptical is important,” Sharpton tells GQ. “The more I did it—and I’ve been doing it every day, seven days a week—the more I found that it was a calming thing. You’ve got to remember, I run a national organization and a television show and a radio show every day. That’s with three different staffs. These are different personalities, different problems, and things you gotta deal with. You need time in the morning to just set yourself down. It’s my morning therapy, and it gets me in shape at the same time.”
