*Some things should stay in the vault. Unfortunately for Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men, a resurfaced interview clip is making the rounds—and it’s not the kind of viral moment anyone would want.
The clip, originally from a 2014 episode of The Breakfast Club (watch below), has been widely shared on social media since March 31, 2026. In it, Morris appears to confirm that he was in a romantic relationship with Brandy Norwood when she was still a minor. When asked about the rumors, the singer—who was in his early 20s at the time of the relationship—offered this gem: “We did the thing when she was 16, 17… She was old enough to get it.”
Ah yes, the legal defense of… checks notes… absolutely nowhere.
He also added, perhaps thinking this made it better, that he wasn’t “38 or nothing like that” at the time. Because being 22 instead of 38 when you’re dating a 16-year-old is… what? A flex? A technicality? A thing you say on a nationally syndicated radio show while the hosts nod along?
Spoiler: It’s none of those things.

Brandy’s Recent Confirmation
The timing of this resurfaced clip is certainly something. Just days earlier, Brandy herself opened up about her past relationship with Morris. She confirmed she was 16, called him her first love, and revealed she lost her virginity to him.
Then came her memoir, Phases, in which Brandy writes that they had to “sneak around” due to her age. She also disclosed that they agreed to “claim we were waiting until my eighteenth birthday before pursuing any romantic connection.” She added a line that should make anyone uncomfortable: “I believe he took advantage.”

The Breakfast Club Interview: A Masterclass in Tone-Deafness
The resurfaced Breakfast Club interview shows Morris sitting alongside hosts Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy, all seemingly unbothered, as he casually discusses dating a minor. At one point, he noted he wasn’t “much older” than the Moesha star—because a four-to-five-year age gap when one person is 16 is apparently negligible?
“It was a relationship, it grew and then it un-grew,” Morris said, offering the kind of vagueness that suggests he knew exactly what he was doing.
By 2021, Morris had slightly adjusted his story, claiming he and Brandy were “just friends” in the beginning and that things didn’t become “intimate” until she was of age. Funny how that works.
Social Media Reacts
Naturally, the internet has opinions. And by opinions, I mean fury.
One user on theJasmineBrand put it bluntly: “This did not age well… and they all participated in a discussion that should have made them very uncomfortable.”
Another went straight for the legal implications: “He just admitted to 4 Crimes ??? including Sex trafficking of a minor.”
And then there’s this one, which perfectly sums up the collective disgust: “??? and they all sitting there laughing !!!! He literally admitted it, so everyone who’s attacking Brandy needs to see this gross admission, ‘she was old enough to get it.’”
Because yes, let’s be clear: Morris is now 52. Brandy is 47. The age gap isn’t the issue. The issue is that he was an adult, she was a child, and he apparently thought “she was old enough to get it” was a perfectly acceptable thing to say on air—while everyone in the studio laughed along.

As of this posting (04-02-26), neither Brandy nor Wanya Morris has issued a new statement addressing the resurfaced clip. One can only assume Morris’ publicist is currently staring at a wall, wondering how to spin “I dated a 16-year-old and laughed about it on a radio show.”
