*Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for “The Better Sister,” a limited crime thriller series starring Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks. All eight episodes will premiere globally on Thursday, May 29, in over 240 countries and territories.
Based on the bestselling novel by Alafair Burke, “The Better Sister” is a tightly wound psychological drama exploring the fractures and loyalties within a family rocked by murder. The series centers on Chloe (Biel), a successful media executive living what appears to be an idyllic life with her husband, Adam (Corey Stoll), and teenage son, Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan). But Chloe’s carefully constructed world unravels when Adam is found brutally murdered, and the investigation forces her to reunite with her estranged sister, Nicky (Banks), a woman struggling to stay clean and afloat.
What begins as a tragic family crisis quickly becomes a layered whodunit. As Chloe and Nicky delve into the mystery surrounding Adam’s death, buried secrets and painful truths rise to the surface. Their journey challenges the boundaries of sisterhood, revealing the ways trauma, betrayal, and love can bind or break familial ties.
The series also features a powerhouse supporting cast, including Kim Dickens as Detective Nancy Guidry, Bobby Naderi, Gabriel Sloyer, Gloria Reuben, Matthew Modine, and Lorraine Toussaint.
“The Better Sister” is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Tomorrow Studios (a division of ITV Studios). Olivia Milch (Ocean’s 8) and Regina Corrado (Mayor of Kingstown) serve as showrunners and executive producers. Craig Gillespie (Pam & Tommy) directs and executive produces through Fortunate Jack Productions. Also on board as executive producers are Jessica Biel, Elizabeth Banks, Michelle Purple, Kerry Orent, and Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner.
With a sleek aesthetic, layered storytelling, and commanding performances from Biel and Banks, “The Better Sister” promises a taut and emotionally charged ride when it lands on Prime Video this month. Watch the trailer above.
