*Apple TV+ has renewed the hit series “Silo” for two more seasons, with the series set to end after Season 4.
The additional seasons will allow showrunner Graham Yost to complete the adaptation of Hugh Howey’s bestselling dystopian trilogy. “Silo” follows the last ten thousand people on Earth living in a massive underground silo, with their survival threatened by the toxic world outside and the mysterious origins of their shelter. Season 2 is currently streaming, with new episodes releasing weekly until January 17.
“It has been a richly rewarding experience to adapt Hugh’s epic novels with our partners at Apple and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this complete story to the screen over the course of four seasons,” said Yost in a statement, per Deadline. “With the final two chapters of Silo, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.”
Series star Rebecca Ferguson added, “I’ve loved every minute of bringing Juliette to the screen and I am immensely proud of what we’ve all created with Silo since the first episode.”
She added, “I have always felt passionately about telling the entire story contained within Hugh Howey’s books, so I couldn’t be happier that audiences around the world have enthusiastically embraced the show. Alongside our parters at Apple, Graham, and the entire cast and crew, I cannot wait to dive into these final two thought-provoking seasons that will beautifully conclude this dystopian tale.”
Yost told EUR that the goal for season 2 was to go “deeper in story and in character.”
“I felt like the reason I was attracted to adapting the books is that Hugh Howey did a masterful job at setting up this big mystery of what the heck is going on? Why are people living in a silo?” Yost explained, adding, “…as the books went along, he parceled out the truth…so that gave us an incredible framework to follow.”
Yost continued, “We knew we wanted to expand the world and we do, we go into another silo and we knew we wanted to deepen it. A lot of it is, especially in Silo 18, it’s relationships between Bernard and Sims played by Common, and Tim Robbins playing Bernard, but also Knox, who is a secondary character and he steps up. He’s from mechanical and he has this testy relationship with Shirley played by Remmie Milner. It was fun to go into there.”
Excited to share that “Silo” will return for a third AND fourth season! We’re thrilled to support the imagination and inspiration out of the UK as they continue to create world-class films and series. pic.twitter.com/hmtszs7hf5
