*Sheinelle Jones is set to join Jenna Bush Hager as co-host of the fourth hour of NBC’s “TODAY,” beginning January 12. The newly named “TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle” will continue the legacy of engaging and heartfelt conversation that audiences have come to love.
As NBC News reports, Jenna celebrated the announcement, saying, “I’ve made some incredible friends, and I’ve learned so much about myself, and you, the audience, have been with me for the entire time. So thank you so much. Today, I am so thrilled to announce I have found my forever friend, and we are going to start a brand new journey in January.” The pair have known each other for over a decade, with Bush Hager noting, “to get to fall even more in love with her will be, I think, a beautiful chapter in this show.”
Executive vice president Libby Leist and executive producer Talia Parkinson-Jones described the duo as “two extraordinary talents who have grown within the ranks of TODAY. They are beloved for their authenticity, warmth and genuine connection with our ‘TODAY’ audience.” Jones will leave the show’s third hour, while Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Dylan Dreyer remain on the 9 a.m. broadcast.

Jones, 47, has been part of NBC News for over 11 years, joining “Weekend TODAY” in 2014 and becoming a third-hour co-host in 2019. Her personal journey has been marked by resilience, including the loss of her husband, Uche Ojeh, in May 2025. Reflecting on her return to the show, she told Savannah Guthrie in September, “We don’t move on, but we move forward with our loved ones. I hope that just by me being on the set and me returning to work, it’s like, ‘OK, if I can do it, so can you, right?’”
Addressing the audience Tuesday (Dec. 9) after the permanent co-host announcement, Jones added, “For those of you who are holding something, whether it’s grief or pain or whatever you’re holding, I just hope you know that if you see me here, that means you can do it too. And we’re all going to fight for our joy. When you see me laughing and when you see me having a good time with my sister, friend, here, it means you can get up and to conquer your day too. That’s what we’re going to do.”
In the clip above, Jenna announces Jones as her co-host, with Sheinelle saying, “I told my kids first. They were so happy for me. There was so much joy in our house.” She added, “It feels like Uche is up there with God like ‘alright let’s make this happen.’ I put on his shirt this morning and I said a little prayer and I’m like ‘let’s go be with not my friend but my sister!’”
