As the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” celebrated the history and impact of Black fashion and dandyism, two of the music industry’s biggest stars reminded the world what reconciliation looks like. Rihanna, who stunned the crowd with the reveal of her third pregnancy, posed lovingly with Ciara, who was seen cradling the singer’s baby bump, a moment that quickly went viral, TooFab reports.
Adding to the significance, the women posed alongside their partners, A$AP Rocky and Russell Wilson. The visual marked what fans described as “closure,” 14 years after a brief but unforgettable Twitter spat between the two stars made headlines.
Their falling-out began in 2011, after Ciara commented on Fashion Police that Rihanna “wasn’t the nicest” during a run-in at a party. Rihanna fired back with a now-infamous tweet: “My bad ci, did i 4get to tip u?”
“Trust Rihanna u dont wanna see me on or off the stage,” Ciara clapped back, with RiRi responding: “Good luck with book that stage u speak of.”

The internet quickly latched onto their exchange, which ended with a rare and public apology from Rihanna: “Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I’m heartbroken! That’s y l retaliated this way! So sorry! #letsmakeup.” Ciara replied with grace: “Rhi u know it’s always been love since day 1!”
Though the tension quietly faded over the years, Monday night’s Met Gala moment, their first time photographed together in 15 years, offered visual proof that healing had taken place. As one fan posted, “This isn’t just celebrity drama. It’s growth.”
