
*Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan has passed away at age 34.
Family members and the Fulton County morgue confirmed his death, which occurred at his home on Thursday.
TMZ reports that while no official cause of death has been revealed, close family friends allege that the platinum-selling artist died from a drug overdose.
“Just got word @RichHomieQuan just OD’d. Just talk[ed] to Wuan the other day,” rapper Boosie Badazz wrote on X Thursday. “Never [going to] forget [your] smile.”
Boosie also revealed he and Quan were working on new music.
“We was cooking up some [expletive] too,” Boosie wrote. “We got some good ass memories together [and] that [will] always bring a smile to my face.”
R&B singer Jacquees also reacted to news of Quan’s death, writing, “Rest in peace my brother Rich Homie Quan. I love you for life.”
Quan, born Dequantes Lamar, launched his career in 2011 and gained mainstream recognition with his 2013 hit “Type of Way.” He had another hit with “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” in 2015. Three years later he released his debut studio album “Rich as in Spirit.” He dropped several singles this year as well.
Rich Homie Quan was part of Rich Gang, a spin-off project from Cash Money Records, and achieved success with the 2014 hit single “Lifestyle.”
