*Legal proceedings involving Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie Osefo have taken another step forward, with the couple now scheduled to face trial together in early 2027 on fraud-related charges, Reality Tea reports.
The latest update came during a Carroll County Circuit Court status conference on May 20, when the joint trial window was confirmed for January 25 through January 29, 2027. The case has been marked by repeated changes in how the couple’s defense strategy has been presented, shifting between requests for joint and separate trials before ultimately returning to a combined approach.
The Osefos have been under legal scrutiny since a 2025 indictment brought 34 combined charges against the couple, with each facing 16 counts that included insurance fraud.
Authorities allege the case stems from a reported burglary at the couple’s home last April, during which approximately 80 items were claimed as stolen. Those valuables included jewelry, clothing, and luxury goods, with the overall value estimated at more than $200,000.
Investigators later pointed to inconsistencies in the claim, noting there were no signs of forced entry, no disturbance inside the home, and no detectable activity from the property’s security system. Additional scrutiny emerged from emails allegedly showing Eddie discussing increasing the reported loss total to exceed a $423,000 insurance policy limit.
Further questions were raised over specific items listed as stolen, including a $4,500 gold diamond anniversary band that later appeared in Wendy’s social media photos. Authorities also reported recovering at least 15 items during a search of the residence, while others had reportedly been returned to retailers for refunds before the alleged incident.
Following their arrest in October 2025, both spent one night in jail before posting $50,000 bond each.
