*Nicki Minaj delivered surprising remarks at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest convention on Dec. 21, appearing alongside Erika Kirk at the Arizona gathering. The artist shared her political perspectives and discussed her advocacy work against violence targeting Christians in Nigeria.
During her remarks, Minaj encouraged young men to model themselves after President Donald Trump, describing traits she associated with him as “handsome” and “dashing.” She also took aim at California Gov. Gavin Newsom, referring to him as “Newscum,” a nickname previously used by Trump, amid ongoing disputes over transgender youth policies.

A tense moment occurred when Minaj attempted to praise Vance by calling him an “assassin.” She immediately covered her mouth, realizing her poor choice of words. Erika Kirk, whose husband Charlie Kirk was assassinated in September, addressed the moment from the stage, saying, “If the internet wants to clip it, who cares? I love this woman.”
Minaj also spoke about race and beauty standards, arguing that people on the Left should stop criticizing White people. “I don’t need someone with blonde hair and blue eyes to downplay their beauty, because I know my beauty… It doesn’t bother me a woman says she’s beautiful. Why SHOULDN’T she feel that?”
Her comments appeared to reference recent debate surrounding Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle campaign, which used the tagline “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.” Some critics interpreted the slogan as a wordplay suggesting “great genes,” which they argued echoed eugenics-related ideas.
American Eagle denied those claims, stating: “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”
When asked by GQ about interpretations involving genetic superiority, Sweeney declined to engage. “I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear,” she responded.
