*Nicki Minaj’s latest social media venture is giving fans paid access to exclusive content while giving her critics a new target.
The rapper announced Friday that she activated subscriptions on her X account. The platform’s feature allows public figures and creators to reserve certain posts, videos and live audio discussions for paying followers.
“I finally did it. You can now subscribe to my X account,” Minaj wrote.
She described the private section as a space for fans who want to “have fun, think deeper, grow, learn, laugh, cry, cuss ppl out, look cute sometimes, be yourself at all times… elevate, levitate, meditate.”

Minaj ended the invitation with, “Exclusive Spaces & Content, Welcome Aboard.”
X’s subscription feature allows creators to offer exclusive posts through a monthly membership. Minaj’s new tier costs $10 per month and gives subscribers access to premium content and private Spaces. While the feature has become a common way for creators to monetize their audiences, Minaj’s launch became less about the content and more about whether the successful rapper needed additional income.
“What happened to billionaire Barbie? Why are we begging for subscriptions on Twitter?” one person wrote, per The Mirror.
Another user posted, “If you’re broke why don’t you just say that.”
Some detractors accused Minaj of damaging her wealthy public image. One critic wrote, “A celebrity begging for fans for more money.. You’re an embarrassment.”
Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj’s decision to use a standard creator tool does not establish that she is short on money.
