In her message, Minaj mocked Lizzo’s recent physical transformation and questioned her commercial success. She wrote, “Fat Lizzo lost 300 lbs just to sell 300 albums,” before continuing with additional remarks that referenced loose skin, an underperforming project, and the singer’s legal issues. The post did not specify a particular album or case. “So now she has loose skin AND a flop album, AND a weird charge. Sheesh,” the hip-hop star added.
Lizzo has not released a full-length studio album since 2022’s “Special,” which left some uncertainty around Minaj’s reference. In June 2025, she released a mixtape titled “My Face Hurts from Smiling,” though no sales figures or chart performance were mentioned by either artist.
The mention of a “charge” appears to relate to civil lawsuits filed against Lizzo rather than criminal matters. In 2023, three former dancers accused her of fat-shaming and sexual harassment in a lawsuit that is still partially active. Later that year, stylist Asha Daniels filed a separate lawsuit alleging harassment and unsafe work environment, though those claims were dismissed in 2024.

In December 2025, a judge dismissed the fat-shaming claims, while the harassment-related allegations remain unresolved. Lizzo has not faced any criminal charges connected to these cases.
Lizzo has not publicly responded to Minaj’s latest comments, but the timing has drawn attention due to remarks she made in late December. Those comments followed Minaj’s appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, where Lizzo spoke about celebrities aligning with conservative politics. At the time, she said, “You’re about to see an influx of people who see that it is more profitable and more beneficial to join that side. You’re going to see it. It already started, and it’s going to continue. This is Trump’s first year as president. We got three more years of people who are going to surprise you, and it’s going to hurt your feelings. It’s gonna disappoint you.”
She continued by saying, “There’s money behind everything. There are privileges behind every move that people in these positions make. And I’m not surprised.”
