*McDonald’s popular bagel sandwiches are back by popular demand.
For the first time, the beloved breakfast offerings are available nationwide after limited releases in select U.S. markets in 2022 and 2024. McDonald’s added breakfast bagels to their menu in late 2019, but they were discontinued amid the 2020 COVID pandemic. There are four varieties: Bacon, Egg & Cheese Bagel, Sausage, Egg & Cheese Bagel, Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel which features grilled onions, and vegetarian customers have the Egg & Cheese bagel option.
“Our fans’ love for McDonald’s breakfast runs deep, and we love to see the passion they have for some of their favorite menu items. We’re always listening to their cravings and taking their feedback into account as we make menu decisions,” McDonald’s said previously in a statement.
In related news, this Sunday, the fast-food chain is offering a special deal on another one of its most iconic breakfast items. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Egg McMuffin, customers can purchase an Egg McMuffin or a Sausage McMuffin with Egg for just $1—exclusively through the McDonald’s app. The promotion is valid for one day only, on March 2, and is available at participating locations across the U.S.
The Egg McMuffin, first introduced in 1975, has remained a staple on McDonald’s breakfast menu for decades. This limited-time offer comes as egg prices continue to climb, making it a timely and appealing deal for budget-conscious customers.

Dipanjan Chatterjee, a vice president at Forrester, a New York-based market research company, told Busness Insider the move could position McDonald’s as a company that “prioritizes its customers over profit,” Chatterjee said.
The $1 Egg McMuffin deal is “likely to pay off handsomely for McDonald’s,” said Mário Braz de Matos, the cofounder of the Singapore-based branding consultancy agency Flying Fish Lab.
“McDonald’s doesn’t just stand for fast food, it also stands for value,” he said. “In good times, it matters, but in harder economic climates, it makes this particular aspect of the brand more attractive to consumers.”
