According to Ice Cream Convos, Constance was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation in her fight for recovery. Yet, it was her vibrant spirit that truly defined her. “My mom woke up every day with the greatest attitude and with her heart full of a song for the Lord,” MC Lyte wrote on Instagram. “Anyone who came into contact with her felt her light and her beautiful energy. That smile. A true joy.”
For MC Lyte, this loss is “the most difficult part of my journey.” Still, the renowned Hip Hop artist finds solace in gratitude, cherishing the 54 years she shared with her mother—a blessing made more poignant by the fact that Constance lost her mother at the tender age of 10.
In her tribute, MC Lyte also shared a message of faith and peace, finding comfort in her belief that her mother is now free from pain. “Words cannot express how heavy my heart sits but I rest in the knowingness that she is now free, out of pain and with our Lord Jesus Christ,” she added.
