*Marlon Wayans believes the Los Angeles wildfires represent “a rebirth,” suggesting the disaster will unite the entertainment community.
The comedian took to Instagram to share his outlook on what’s been dubbed the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles history, which have burned more than 54 square miles of land. Wildfires across the county have claimed at least 10 lives, destroyed over 10,000 structures, and burned more than 27,000 acres, according to officials. There are more than 179,000 residents who have been evacuated as of Thursday night, and a number of sentimental landmarks have been destroyed.
Fox News reports that the Kenneth Fire, which began Thursday in the San Fernando Valley, has prompted urgent evacuation orders. The Eaton Fire near Pasadena, responsible for seven deaths, has burned over 5,000 structures, though firefighters have made progress containing it. In Pacific Palisades, the largest fire has destroyed over 5,300 structures with no containment yet.
“Wow… this image got me thinking spiritually… not sure if it’s real or not. Don’t care,” Wayans captioned an AI-generated image of the infamous Hollywood sign in a January 9 post. “To all my tribe of friends, family, executives, agents, managers, crew members… this ain’t Hollywood burning, it’s a rebirth. This is rinsing our souls of all the devastation we have endured over the past five years. Covid, strikes, fires, etc.”
Wayans said the ongoing fires would bring the “entertainment community.”

Wayans continued, “Through all this tragedy let’s focus on triumph. Everything is God. May we all hear him. He is screaming at us… Everything will be okay, even better than before. It’s not the end… it’s a beginning,” he wrote.
“Love and prayers to all those affected. I love all of US. To all my friends that have lost their homes I am saddened yet happy that you have your LIVES. These things are replaceable but life is not. Big hugs and love. I find rainbows whenever I’m in storms… some people just find gloom” Wayans added.
