*Rapper The Game has pledged to help families affected by the Los Angeles wildfires by providing safety and shelter to those forced to evacuate their homes.
“Me & [talent manager Travis Wilson] are helping 10 families effected [sic] by the fires here get into @airbnb for a week free of charge [praying hands emoji],” he shared on Instagram Stories Wednesday (Jan. 8), adding, “Must have an identification or drivers license with address in the affected areas.”
Wildfires across Los Angeles County have claimed at least 10 lives, destroyed over 10,000 structures, and burned more than 27,000 acres, according to officials.
Fox News reports that the Kenneth Fire, which began Thursday in the San Fernando Valley, has prompted urgent evacuation orders. The Eaton Fire near Pasadena, responsible for seven deaths, has burned over 5,000 structures, though firefighters have made progress containing it. In Pacific Palisades, the largest fire has destroyed over 5,300 structures with no containment yet.
Authorities also report 20 arrests for looting amid the devastation caused by five major fires impacting the region.
According to Hot 97, officials estimate damages could exceed $50 billion.
The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner said it has “received notification of 10 fire-related deaths.”
“The identification make take several weeks as the Department of Medical Examiner is not able to respond to all death locations due to the fire conditions and safety concerns. Please also keep in mind, traditional means of identification such as fingerprinting and visual identification may not be available and will add more time for naming these decedents,” the office said in a news release.
