*Jaafar Jackson is reportedly seeking a bigger payday to portray his uncle again after “Michael” became a billion-dollar blockbuster.
The 30-year-old actor is renegotiating his compensation as plans move forward for another film, according to In Touch. The talks have reportedly created friction between Jaafar and cousins Prince and Paris Jackson.
“Though Jaafar is loving his moment as the star of a billion-dollar movie, it’s come at a cost,” a source told the outlet. “The hope is that time — and perhaps more success — can heal these rifts.”
The insider added, “Jaafar is re-negotiating because of the first film’s massive success“He’s become a major international actor and deserves to make a fortune when they shoot a second or even a third film.”

“Michael” has earned more than $1 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing biopic in history. The Antoine Fuqua-directed film surpassed “Oppenheimer,” which collected $975.8 million globally, and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which earned $911 million.
International moviegoers contributed $629.8 million to the total, while North American theaters generated $371.8 million. Japan added more than $35 million as the movie crossed the billion-dollar threshold during its 12th weekend.
“Jaafar is re-negotiating because of the first film’s massive success,” the source said. “He’s become a major international actor and deserves to make a fortune when they shoot a second or even a third film.”
Prince, 29, served as an executive producer on the film. He and Paris, 28, also benefit from their father’s estate. The source said the movie’s success has boosted Paris financially. “It’s made her even richer than she already is, at least on paper.”
However, Paris remains involved in a separate $3 million legal dispute with an executor of Michael Jackson’s estate.
“Paris continues to fight tooth-and-nail,” the source said. “She isn’t letting up, and that makes her an obstacle in Jaafar’s journey toward playing her father again.”
Production on the next “Michael” installment could begin as early as the end of 2026. Details about Jaafar’s new salary have not been disclosed.
