*Apple TV has released the official trailer for season two of “Hijack,” the high-stakes thriller starring and executive produced by SAG Award winner and Emmy nominee Idris Elba.
Created by George Kay (“Lupin,” “Criminal”) and Jim Field Smith (“Criminal,” “Litvinenko”), the eight-episode season will premiere globally on January 14, 2026, with weekly episodes continuing through March 4. Season two centers on a Berlin underground train and its passengers being taken hostage while authorities above ground race to save lives. Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis, where every choice carries potentially catastrophic consequences, per the news release.

Produced by 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash serve as executive producers for 60Forty Films, with Kay and Field Smith serving as executive producers for Idiotlamp Productions. Field Smith also returns as lead director.
The new season brings back the ensemble cast, including Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi, while adding Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul.
Since its debut, “Hijack” has become one of Apple TV’s top dramas, receiving praise from both critics and fans. It earned a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and ranked on the Nielsen Streaming Originals Top 10 list. Critics have called the series “instantly enthralling” and “a shot of pure adrenaline,” describing it as “crisp and tense” with a “tension-filled” narrative that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. Elba’s performance has been recognized as that of a “commanding leading man.”
