*Apple TV has announced the return of its pulse-pounding thriller “Hijack,” revealing the first trailer and confirming a January 14, 2026, premiere for the second season.
The eight-episode series, starring and executive produced by SAG Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Idris Elba, will debut with two episodes followed by weekly releases through February 25, 2026. Check out the trailer above.

Created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith — the duo behind “Lupin,” “Criminal,” and “Litvinenko” — the new season shifts its setting from the skies to the underground. In season two, a Berlin train and its passengers are taken hostage, setting off a desperate rescue effort as chaos unfolds. At the center of the crisis is Sam Nelson, played by Elba, whose every decision carries life-or-death consequences, per the series synopsis.
Season two brings back several key cast members from the first season, including Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi. Joining them are Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul. Elba, who earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in the debut season, once again leads the ensemble.
The series is produced by 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash serving as executive producers for 60Forty Films. George Kay and Jim Field Smith executive produce for Idiotlamp Productions, with Field Smith also returning as lead director.
Since its launch, “Hijack” has been celebrated as one of Apple TV’s standout thrillers, praised by critics and audiences alike. The first season earned a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and secured a spot on the Nielsen Streaming Originals Top 10 list. Critics have described the series as “instantly enthralling,” “a shot of pure adrenaline,” and “tension-filled and gripping, often putting the viewer on the edge of their seat,” with Elba lauded as a “commanding leading man.”
The complete first season is now available to stream on Apple TV.
