*The play “Fake It Until You Make It” premieres at the Mark Taper Forum in Downtown LA. It’s a teaching moment filled with humor, anchored by satire and a myriad of quirky moments.
Writer Larissa FastHorse takes the audience on a witty yet historical journey where two main characters (River and Wynona) experience a cultural clash while sharing the same dubious goal.
They each want to raise funds and awareness about the indigenous people. Except Wynona is actually Native American (or so it seems) and the other is River, a high-strung blonde, blue eyed cat lady.
Director Michael John Garcés carefully navigates the words of Ms. FastHorse, brought to life by a splendid cast and voila! Another tour de force farce is born! “Fake It Until You Make It” stars Emmy Award Winner Julie Bowen (Modern Family, Happy Gilmore) as River; Tonantzin Carmello (NCIS Origins) as Wynona; Noah Bean as Theo, Brandon Delsid as Krys and Eric Stanton Betts as Mark.
The play also stars the show stopping Dakota Ray Hebert as Grace, a culture shifting bohemian whose life and mission is somehow intertwined in the chaotic community center setting the stage.

It’s witty and amusing. It’s a courageous approach, but somehow it works. Talent and artistry abound. The set also features the real-life artwork of River Garza, Marlena Myles, Hozho Life and Steven Paul Judd. Casting is by Kim Williams, CSA.
