EUR on the Scene: 2015 NAMM Show-Soulfully Speaking

EURweb Logo*Anaheim – Hundreds of artists from nearly every imaginable musical genre performed on five NAMM Show Stages, as the 2015 NAMM Show returned to Anaheim, January 22-25, 2015. Live music complimented and enhanced the product debuts for more than 5,000 music brands throughout the four-day music industry trade event. Star-studded awards shows, music making opportunities, and live performances set the stage for a NAMM Show industry will be talking about for years to come.

“NAMM is a great show to conduct business, but perhaps the soul of NAMM and what makes it different from its competitors is the music,” said Joe Lamond, President and CEO of NAMM. “Seeing musical performances from some of the best artists in the world and having our musical heroes checking out the latest gear next to us in an exhibitor’s booth are the experiences that we’ll be telling everyone all about when we return home.”

Productive days on the show floor, set to a musical soundtrack playing on the Hilton Lobby Stage, the Marriott Lobby Stage, Center Stage, The Venue Stage presented by Pioneer DJ, and the NAMM GoPro Stage on the Grand Plaza.

My schedule on the 2015 NAMM Show app was thrown into disarray as soon as I entered the Convention Center, Saturday, January 24th. This was a good thing. Even with a set schedule, one could enjoy some great concerts, listen to artists explain various techniques to a rapt audience, and see other artists explain how much they enjoy the latest products in various exhibitors booths.

Innovative guitar virtuoso and Four Time Grammy nominee Stanley Jordon mesmerized a standing room only crowd at the Behringer/Bugera Performance Stage. He opened with “Eleanor Rigby” and proceeded to talk about his latest endeavor teaching guitar online. Visit https://www.stanleyjordon.com/en-us/lesson and https://www.stanleyjordon.com/en-us-specialprojects for more information. Guitarist, pianist, composer, teacher, music theorist, music therapy advocate, technology developer and multi-style musical innovator Stanley Jordon first made waves in 1985, with the release of Magic Touch, the first release on the re-launched Blue Note Records. Critics and audience alike were blown away by his innovative touch technique, an advance form of two-handed tapping that allows him to play both melody and chords simultaneously.

Media enjoyed the new layout of the 2015 Winter NAMM Show, especially the NAMM Museum of Making Music booth that asked artists “What Music Means to Me? This relaxing lounge with sofa chairs and a piano across from the Media Center provided the perfect soundtrack for journalist working on a review and uploading photos. Several piano players sat in on piano to entertain attendees with some classical, jazz and blues tunes. Joel Desroches is a piano player from Brooklyn, New York. He is a creative and prolific performer who has shared the stage with Melanie Fiona, Eric Benet, Tye Tribbett, Donald Lawrence, Hezekiah Walker, John P. Kee, Rene Neufville, Donnie McClurkin, Bebe Winan and CeCe Winans. Trumpeter Gil DeFay combined for a duet, for an outstanding performance near Hall E of the Convention Center.

John “Sax” Williams, Fredrick Smith-keyboards and vocalist Kenya Williams provided entertainment in the Carvin Audio booth.
