*A heated altercation broke out during a public meeting in Dolton, Illinois, involving controversial Mayor Tiffany Henyard, her boyfriend Kamal Woods, and activist Jedidiah Brown.
The fight erupted after Brown criticized Henyard, prompting Woods to charge at him. Video footage captured Henyard joining the scuffle, shoving a table aside, and being thrown to the floor, with her wig falling off in the chaos.
“I have never seen a politician jump in and fight like that – it was scary and horrible- It is an embarrassment,” eyewitness Meghan Dudek told NBC Chicago.
The incident quickly went viral, fueling further criticism of Henyard’s leadership amid existing allegations of financial mismanagement. Watch the video report above.

Meanwhile, former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot presented the findings of her investigation into Henyard’s administration, commissioned by Dolton’s Board of Trustees. The report detailed “gross financial mismanagement” both in Dolton and Thornton Township, where Henyard also serves as supervisor. Lightfoot accused Henyard’s administration of deliberately misleading the public after concerns about financial oversight were raised in 2021.
“The costs to taxpayers have been significant, starting with a substantial budget deficit, higher costs for basic necessities like liability insurance, and many lawsuits against the Village directly related to allegations of misconduct by Henyard and others,” Lightfoot said in a statement.
During the investigation, Lightfoot said she consistently encountered an administration and mayor that “evaded transparency — skirting FOIA laws, failing to provide requested documents, and otherwise refusing to cooperate with the investigation.”
The investigation revealed that credit card expenditures were poorly regulated, with spending spiraling out of control. Between 2022 and 2023, the usage of credit cards soared, reaching nearly $780,000.
“The board of trustees, in many instances, was not able to track or see credit card purchases that were being done over the last few years,” Lightfoot said.
“There was a concerted, systematic effort on behalf of Mayor Henyard and others in her administration to hide the true financial condition of the Village of Dolton from the trustees and from members of the public,” Lightfoot explained.
Mayor Henyard initially vetoed calls for an investigation into her actions, but the decision was overridden by the Dolton Board of Trustees.
The FBI has launched its own investigation into Henyard, focusing on allegations of financial misconduct, including questionable out-of-state travel, large purchases, and potential corruption involving both Dolton and Thornton townships.
