*During a recent appearance on Maury Povich’s “On Par” podcast, Angela Yee looked back on a gut-wrenching story that surfaced on her “Lip Service” podcast. The conversation centered on comedian D.L. Hughley, who once revealed that he had a child with a woman other than his wife, LaDonna Hughley.
“He gave us this exclusive information that he had gotten another woman pregnant outside of his marriage,” Yee shared, per Complex. “Unfortunately, the baby ended up dying.”
Yee noted how meaningful it was that Hughley chose her platform to disclose such a painful chapter. “I felt good that this was a safe space for him,” she added.
Hughley addressed the situation publicly around 2017, describing a period in his life when he was still a young man navigating early married life and the beginning stages of his comedy career.

“I had knocked this chick up and had the baby, and the baby got killed by her boyfriend,” Hughley recalled, per Vibe. “It was a horrible, horrible experience. I had this baby that I’m paying for. I’m a boy, I was scared, I was married. I was just starting out my career.”
He found out about the tragedy through a phone call from a friend. “I get a call from my boy, and he says, ‘Your son is in the hospital,'” Hughley said. “So, I go to the hospital, and this boy was laying on the bed. Apparently, her boyfriend had shaken him and damaged his brain.”
The comedian did not tell LaDonna about any of it for a long time. Years passed before he finally sat her down and shared what had happened. Her reaction, however, was not what he anticipated.
“Finally, one day I tell my wife, and you know what she said to me? ‘I wish you would have told me this and we could’ve went through this together,'” he shared.
