*Denzel Washington seemingly channeled his inner “Training Day” character in a tense exchange with a rowdy crowd of paparazzi and autograph seekers.
A viral video from the scene shows the actor in good spirits while posing for photos outside New York City’s Museum of Modern Art on Wednesday. But someone in the crowd is heard repeatedly saying “Show some love, Denzel.”
That’s when the actor rushes over to the person and says, “…I got nothing but love. But respect me, first… I said I’ll see you when I get out. Which part of that don’t ya’ll understand?”
Denzel’s frustration is clear as he tells them to stay calm, wait patiently, and act respectfully. “Or not!” he adds. “We can do it another way. Either way. I can do it both ways, ya’ll,” he continues. The exchange plays out like his iconic “King Kong” scene from the 2001 hit film “Training Day.” Watch the moment via the YouTube clip above.

In the comments of the video, one person wrote, “He very respectfully said I will see you on the way out and they got rowdy, and he reminded them, he doesn’t have to do them any favors at all.” Another YouTube user commented, “I’m so glad he put them folks in their place that was training day.”
A third added, “Basically he was like i see yall calm down I’ll see yall on the way out!!.. If yall wanna show out lets show out!!!”
Washington is set to appear in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II” and he’s reuniting with director Spike Lee for “High and Low,” a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic. The film is loosely based on the 1959 novel King’s Ransom by Ed McBain. The story follows an executive of a Yokohama shoe company who becomes a victim of extortion when his chauffeur’s son is kidnapped by mistake and held for ransom, per IMDB.com.
“Gladiator II” stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, and Connie Nielsen. It hits theaters internationally on November 15, with the US and Canada following on November 22.
