Dr. La’boris Cole-Sapp used an Easter Sunday service to fire back at online speculation surrounding the couple’s recent wedding, pushing back against claims that church funds were used to cover the cost of the celebration.
According to WBLS, Sapp and Cole-Sapp married on March 20 at The Chosen Vessel Church in Fort Worth. A photo circulating on social media showing the couple alongside a helicopter quickly fueled rumors about the cost of the event and where the money came from.

Cole-Sapp addressed both the congregation and her online critics head-on, making one thing clear — the church’s finances had nothing to do with their wedding. “Stop lying” about their finances, she told the haters, standing firm in defense of her husband’s integrity and leadership.
She went on to confirm that she personally funded the entire ceremony, helicopter included. “Everybody not broke [and] everybody don’t need the church’s money,” she said, making the point that her own financial independence made the elaborate event possible without drawing on church resources.
Cole-Sapp also noted that both she and Bishop Sapp maintain income streams separate from his ministry. Bishop Sapp has led The Chosen Vessel Church since 2019. The Grammy-winning gospel artist was previously married to the late Dr. MaLinda Sapp, who passed away in 2010.
With her comments, Cole-Sapp drew a clear line between their private finances and the church, expressing hope that the public would move past the rumors and embrace the couple’s new chapter together.
