*We caught up with the cast of Peacock’s new crime series “Irreverent,” which centers on an American criminal who is forced to hide out in a small Australian reef town in Far North Queensland, posing as the new church Reverend.

Per the official series synopsis: Irreverent is ultimately a story about the power and importance of community, and we hope that people feel the love and the belief with which the show was made. Producing Irreverent has been a momentous undertaking, but it’s been endlessly rewarding too. The team and I feel deeply proud of the result and cannot wait to share it with the rest of the world.

Colin Donnell leads the cast which includes PJ Byrne, Kylie Bracknell, Briallen Clarke, Tegan Stimson, Ed Oxenbould, Wayne Blair, Russell Dykstra, Calen Tassone, and Jason Wilder.

“Irreverent is ultimately a story about the power and importance of community, and we hope that people feel the love and the belief with which the show was made,” said showrunner, creator, and writer Paddy Macrae in a statement vis the studio. “Producing Irreverent has been a momentous undertaking, but it’s been endlessly rewarding too. The team and I feel deeply proud of the result and cannot wait to share it with the rest of the world.”

EUR’s Ny MaGee spoke further with Macrae about what viewers can expect as well as executive producers Debbie Lee and Alastair McKinnon about what they are most excited about lovers of the genre experiencing.

I also spoke to PJ, and Kylie about their respective roles and Colin shared his experience taking on the character of criminal mediator Reverend Mackenzie Boyd, who, per the synopsis, has made a mess so bad in Chicago that he can never go home, but he’s going to need all his considerable street smarts to pull off posing as clergy – something he doesn’t know the first thing about. If he slips up, he’s dead and, after a lifetime of crime, doing good works is not something that comes naturally.
