*A milestone in Black entertainment television is getting the tribute it deserves. The 2025 BET Awards will shine a spotlight on “106 & Park,” marking 25 years since the music countdown show became a cornerstone of hip-hop and R&B culture.
The celebration will bring together some of the show’s most iconic hosts, AJ Calloway, Free, Julissa Bermudez, Keshia Chanté, Rocsi Diaz, and Terrence J, reuniting onstage for a special segment during the live broadcast on June 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET. The tribute will also include performances from fan favorites like Bow Wow, Amerie, B2K, Mýa, Jim Jones, T.I., and others, Vibe reports.
“106 & Park was more than just a music countdown show; it was the heartbeat of Black youth culture,” said BET President and CEO Scott Mills. “From Freestyle Friday to unforgettable live performances, it launched careers, influenced fashion, and became a platform where voices, style, and sound converged.”
The festivities kick off earlier with the BET Experience 2025, a multi-day event from June 5–8. Highlights include reggae icon Buju Banton at the Hollywood Palladium and a star-studded Roots Picnic Experience at the Hollywood Bowl. BET R&B Night will feature Jagged Edge, Donell Jones, and more at the YouTube Theater.
From June 7–8, the “106 & Park” stage will be revived during the Fan Fest at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Events include a reimagined “Freestyle Friday Battle” and host-led panels reminiscing about the show’s most memorable moments. Terrence J will also host “Red Carpet Live” ahead of the awards show.

“106 & Park served as a cultural touchstone, embodying the energy, creativity and authenticity of a generation,” stated Connie Orlando, EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET.
“It provided artists a direct connection to their fans, transforming everyday moments into lasting memories. The show’s legacy continues to influence how we engage with music, connect with talent, and celebrate Black creativity. We are thrilled to commemorate 25 years of this iconic series at this year’s BET Awards,” Orlando added.
