*Anthony Anderson is preparing to share some personal stories of his life in an upcoming episode of TV One’s “Uncensored,” set to air Thursday, February 19th. The actor opens up about his health struggles, specifically living with type 2 diabetes.
According to Hot 1009, the “Black-ish” star reveals how receiving the diagnosis completely shifted his relationship with his well-being and daily routine. “I’ve been living with type 2 diabetes for years, and it’s something I have to be mindful of every single day,” he said.
The actor also discusses how the condition became an urgent signal to take better care of himself, particularly while juggling the pressures of exhausting production schedules.
Anderson turns the conversation toward his early years growing up in a rough neighborhood. He speaks with raw honesty about the lure of quick cash and how selling drugs was common for many people in the community. Instead of going down that road, he chose to step away.
“I knew that life wasn’t for me,” he explains, crediting his family and faith for anchoring him.
Those early lessons, Anderson says, fueled his Hollywood career, and he points to humor as his greatest coping tool. “Comedy saved my life in a lot of ways,” he shares.
