*At the American Black Film Festival Honors on February 17, Aaron Pierre was taken aback when he learned that Jennifer Hudson disabled comments on his “spirit tunnel” video, calling it “too hot for y’all to handle.”
“Did she?” Pierre, 30, said after PEOPLE revealed JHud’s decision to turn off the comments to the viral clip following his appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” in December.
“Well, that’s the first time I’ve heard that and I don’t know what to say,” the “Mufasa: The Lion King” star said at the awards season gala, held at Los Angeles’ SLS Hotel, where he was honored with the Rising Star Award.
“I receive that and I’m grateful for that. You know, it’s a special thing. So, thank you,” he said of the fan response to his “spirit tunnel” walk.

The “spirit tunnel” features two rows of people dancing and chanting in honor of the guest. Pierre embraced the moment with infectious energy, donning a stylish black outfit, a blue T-shirt, and a matching leather jacket.

“He took over,” the host said, adding that his “spirit tunnel was the first time we actually had to turn off the comments on our social media.”
“This is a happy place y’all,” Hudson said, “because it turns out he was too hot for all y’all to handle.”
