Shocking Video Shows Teen Girl Assaulted by San Bernardino Officer
*A disturbing incident involving the San Bernardino (CA) Police Department has gone viral, prompting public outrage and calls for justice. We don’t have all the details, but here is what we do know.
On Wednesday (05-21-25), around 2pm, a 17-year-old African American student named Erin was violently body slammed by a male San Bernardino police officer, face-first onto the cement! This happened while she was already in handcuffs.
The assault was captured on video and has since circulated widely on social media, sparking widespread condemnation and renewed demands for police accountability. Erin’s family says she suffered a dislocated wrist and required multiple stitches to her face. The teen was rushed for emergency medical treatment immediately after the incident.

Attorney and Civil Rights Leaders Join the Fight
Erin and her family are being represented by Los Angeles-based civil rights attorney Toni Jaramilla. She and Ali are leading the charge for justice and police accountability, pointing to the San Bernardino Police Department’s documented history of excessive force, particularly against African American individuals.
According to Jaramilla, the officer’s conduct was completely unwarranted and reflected systemic issues within the department.
“Erin was handcuffed and defenseless when she was slammed to the ground,” Jaramilla said. “This is not just about one officer. It’s about a department culture that permits this kind of brutality to exist.”
The family will speak out at a press conference scheduled for today (05-25-25) at 1pm directly outside the San Bernardino Police Station located at 710 N. D Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410. They will be joined by civil rights leaders and community members demanding accountability and transparency.

Community Leaders Demand Attorney General Rob Bonta Act
Ali and Jaramilla are urging California Attorney General Rob Bonta to step in and conduct an independent investigation into the officer’s actions and the broader practices of the San Bernardino Police Department. They say local investigations often lack transparency and fail to hold officers accountable, particularly in cases involving African American victims.
“We’ve seen this before in San Bernardino,” said Ali. “We’re not just talking about a single case—we’re talking about a pattern of violence, intimidation, and racism. The Attorney General must take this case out of the hands of local officials who’ve shown time and time again that they can’t be trusted to police themselves.”

The video shows a disturbing use of force and has triggered comparisons to other high-profile incidents of police brutality involving Black youth. Many civil rights advocates are calling Erin’s case a potential flashpoint for renewed protests against police misconduct in California.
Public Demands Justice for Erin
On social media, #JusticeForErin has started trending, with users expressing horror and disbelief at the officer’s actions. “She was a 17-year-old child. She was handcuffed. This is outrageous,” one user posted. Others shared the video alongside calls for protests, legal action, and police reform.
Local community leaders, youth organizers, and educators have also voiced their support for Erin and her family. Many are expected to attend the Sunday press conference to demand answers from the police department and state officials.
The San Bernardino Police Department has yet to release an official statement addressing the incident. As of May 23, 2025, the identity of the officer involved has not been made public, and no disciplinary actions have been confirmed.
Next Steps in the Fight for Accountability
The press conference on Sunday marks the beginning of what Erin’s supporters hope will be a broader movement for police accountability and racial justice in San Bernardino. The event is sponsored by The Law Office of Toni Jaramilla and Project Islamic Hope, and organizers are urging community members to show up in solidarity.

“This young woman’s life has been forever changed,” Jaramilla commented. “
“The least we can do is make sure her story sparks change. No more silence. No more abuse,” the attorney added.
“This is a clear-cut case of police abuse and excessive force,” said civil rights activist Najee Ali, Director of Project Islamic Hope.
