
*In a heartfelt Instagram Stories post shared the day after her 38th birthday on April 10, Jazmine Sullivan opened up about the profound grief of experiencing a miscarriage, mourning the loss of her “2-month-old son that I never got to meet.”
The Grammy-winning singer also reflected on the enduring pain of losing her mother, Pamela Sullivan, who passed away in July 2023, noting that the lead-up to her birthday was “incredibly hard.”
“Whew.. thank yall for ur birthday wishes. Leading up to my birthday has been incredibly hard as I’ve been thinking abt my mother and missing her more than words can say,” she shared, Vibe reports. She added, “I woulda have been holding my 2-month-old son that I never got to meet. So needless to say I’ve been down bad.”
Sullivan expressed gratitude for a therapeutic massage that eased some of her emotional burden and for the support of her fans, saying, “I’m also grateful that so many of you think of me and take the time to write! It’s all so beautiful!!”
She asked for continued prayers as she navigates her healing process, candidly acknowledging, “Please continue to pray for me as I heal from life’s a** whooping.”

In an April 23 IG post in 2024, she wrote, “I miss my mommy! I tried so hard to keep busy for my birthday to distract myself, but I don’t think it works like that. I cried all month. I’ll cry for the rest of my life. But I’ll also smile, laugh and dance in between the tears! So thank God for that!”
