*Although the rape lawsuit against JAY-Z was dismissed in February, the hip-hop mogul isn’t walking away quietly.
On Monday, May 5, he filed an amended complaint in Alabama accusing his former accuser and her lawyers of ongoing defamation that he says has damaged his personal and professional reputation, Vibe reports. In the new filing, JAY-Z, born Shawn Carter, asserts that the woman behind the accusations, referred to as Jane Doe, has continued to make public statements implying the allegations were valid, despite agreeing not to.
One TikTok video posted on April 11 showed her lip-syncing to a defiant audio clip that said, “You couldn’t pay me a million dollars to get an apology video out of me, I stand on what I said, f**k you.” According to the complaint, this reflects “a shocking and reckless disregard for the truth.”
The rapper’s legal team, led by Alex Spiro, emphasizes that the ongoing defamation is more than reputational; it’s financial. They claim Roc Nation lost a contract with a $20 million minimum guarantee, and JAY-Z personally was denied a $55 million credit line. Additionally, Roc Nation allegedly lost out on a $115 million loan, with the filing noting that Jay and the company are “inextricably tied.”
“By refusing to apologize, and continuing to ‘stand on what [she] said,’ despite all the evidence and, indeed, her own admissions to the contrary, Doe continues to display a shocking and reckless disregard for the truth that is both intentional and malicious,” the complaint reads, per Rolling Stone. “Doe never had any reasonable grounds to support any truth in her statements and acted with reckless disregard for the truth. In other words, she lied.”

The original accusation, made in December 2024, alleged that JAY-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped the accuser at an MTV VMAs afterparty when she was 13. The suit was voluntarily dropped in February, and JAY sued the women and her attorney, Tony Buzbee, for extortion and defamation.
At the time, Spiro said: “The false case against JAY-Z… has been dismissed with prejudice. He never settled, he never paid 1 red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”
