Leon Isaac Kennedy Speaks Out for Smokey Robinson
*Actor/director/producer Leon Isaac Kennedy is standing by his friend Smokey Robinson after explosive allegations hit the Motown icon. In a nearly 45-minute YouTube video, Kennedy fiercely defends Robinson, calling the $50 million lawsuit “preposterous.”
Kennedy says the claims by four former housekeepers (Jane Does 1,2,3, and 4) make no sense and accuses the women and their lawyers of a calculated money grab. “This is an atrocious shakedown,” Kennedy says in the video. “I had to come forward.”
Why Leon Isaac Kennedy Couldn’t Stay Silent Any Longer
Kennedy and Robinson have been friends for over 60 years. In the emotional video, Kennedy says he felt compelled to speak out after watching his friend’s reputation come under attack.
“How dare you attorneys come up with these atrocious undertakings just for a 50% of a $50 million payday,” he says. He calls the accusations a betrayal of Robinson’s long legacy and clean public image.
Smokey Robinson Accused of Serious Misconduct
In May 2025, four women who worked as housekeepers filed a $50 million lawsuit against Smokey Robinson and his wife, Frances. They claim they suffered sexual assault, battery, false imprisonment, and gender violence from 2007 to 2024.
The lawsuit says Robinson assaulted them at his California home and that Frances enabled the behavior and used abusive language. The women are listed as Jane Does to “protect their identities.”
Robinson Responds With Strong Denial and Countersuit
Robinson quickly denied all allegations, calling them “vile” and “false.” He fired back with a massive $500 million defamation countersuit, accusing the women of trying to extort him.
His legal team has asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit and reveal the women’s names, claiming anonymity is not warranted in this case.

Ongoing Investigation Reopens Past Questions
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has launched a criminal investigation. Officials also confirmed Robinson was previously investigated for sexual assault in 2015, though no charges were filed.
The new lawsuit has reignited public interest in Robinson’s past, casting a fresh spotlight on the singer’s personal and professional life.
Kennedy’s Video Gains Attention Across Social Media
The YouTube video is sparking debate and strong reactions online. Many fans support Kennedy’s message, while others are demanding answers and accountability.
Kennedy’s raw, unfiltered words are being seen as a bold defense during a time when many celebrities remain silent. His choice to speak publicly has brought new attention to the case.
Smokey Robinson’s Legacy Faces Scrutiny
Robinson is known for legendary hits like “Tracks of My Tears” and “Cruisin’.” He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has received multiple lifetime achievement awards. But now, his image as a Motown legend is being tested. The outcome of this lawsuit could impact how fans and the industry remember his legacy.

Why This Story Matters More Than Ever
This case is about more than just headlines—it’s about trust, power, and truth in the entertainment world. Kennedy’s decision to speak out shows how deeply this is affecting those closest to Robinson.
Whether the allegations are true or not, the case is stirring conversations about justice, loyalty, and how public figures handle accusations in the digital age.
