*Usher’s halftime show at Super Bowl LVIII reportedly drew in more viewers than Rihanna and Dr Dre’s performances.
According to Samba TV, 30.1 million households watched Usher serve his classic R&B hits, up 5 percent from Rihanna‘s 2023 Halftime Show, Vibe reports. As a result of the big game, Spotify streams of Usher’s music increased by 550 percent.
In 2022, the Super Bowl’s halftime show featured for the first time an exclusive hip-hop lineup of artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent. According to Samba, 29 million U.S. households watched the show.
“The powerhouse performances from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and 50 Cent rocked the ratings on Sunday night, shattering last year’s halftime audience drawing in millions of more viewers across both linear television and streaming,” said Cole Strain, head of measurement at Samba TV, in a statement at the time.
Usher released his ninth studio album, “Coming Home,” on February 9. The 8-time Grammy award-winner has also extended his massive 2024 North America tour, USHER: Past Present Future, to more cities and additional shows in Atlanta.
Produced by Live Nation, the now 51-date tour will kick it all off in Atlanta, making stops in Seattle, Las Vegas, Vancouver, and more before wrapping up at Toyota Center in Houston on November 27, per the news release.
