Our acquaintance with the legendary comedian began back in the 1980s at our former Hollywood office on Cahuenga Blvd West. It was during our annual Watts Willowbrook Boys and Girls Club Christmas Caravan when we sought a celebrity headliner to volunteer for our RadioScope community special event.
He was among the initial stars who graciously joined us and our Jackson Limousine caravan of seven limos as we ventured into South Central Los Angeles. Over 2000 enthusiastic youths and young adults eagerly awaited our arrival each year for the Christmas Caravan.
Throughout the years, various celebrity guests lent their support, including Denzel Washington, Bobby Brown, New Edition, John Singleton, and Vesta. However, it was Sinbad who selflessly paved the way in uplifting our community through comedy and his mere presence, for which we will be eternally grateful.
We urge you to show your support by attending the upcoming Sinbad Tribute Show on Monday, May 6 at 7pm Pacific at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood (CA), as part of the “Netflix is A Joke Festival.”
Hosted by Doug E. Fresh, the show will feature guest performances by Deon Cole, D.L. Hughley, Byron Allen, Mark Curry, DJ Trauma, and more!
